If you know better, you can DO better. (image courtesy of AMP90)
If you remember back to technique week, we talked a TON about using your breathing and torque to help provide your body with extra support during your lifts.
During the recent London 2012 Olympics, CTV featured various sports science segments, hosted by Dr. Greg Wells. During these brief featurettes, Dr. Wells explained the actual science of each sport, as it pertained to the athletes’ bodies. Some fascinating stuff, to be sure!
This video in particular speaks to the use of breathing and torque in the body during the Olympic lift we know and love so well, the Clean and Jerk. Watch as Canadian Olympic Lifting medallist Christine Girard and Dr. Wells demonstrate the same principles we have been trying to drill into your brains…
Next time you throw down the Clean and Jerk, remember: USE YOUR BREATH!!
