Pants is back!
You may see some new faces hanging around during your classes! Please introduce yourself to Amy or Connor, our Athletic Therapy work experience students.
Both Amy and Connor are 2nd year students in the Bachelor of Athletic and Exercise Therapy program. They have their CPR/AED certification at the HCP level and are currently enrolled in summer session courses. They are learning to become certified First Responders from the Canadian Red Cross to manage and treat urgent and non urgent injuries, perform injury assessments as well as taping/supportive techniques for musculoskeletal injuries.
They are certification candidates of the Canadian Athletic Therapists Association and are required to complete a total of 1200 volunteer hours (600 field and 600 clinical) in order to be eligible to attempt the National Certification Exam to become a Certified Athletic Therapist (http://www.athletictherapy.org/en/index.aspx).
We also have our own Francey Pants back for the summer to get some hours. France is in her third year of the Athletic Therapy program. France can help you out with effective taping and wrapping for common injuries and conditions of the limbs prior to the client’s participation in activity. She can evaluate injuries and conditions and problem solve what you can do to help your injury and what things you should not be doing to aggravate it.
If you have an injury or are looking at having a body part taped, please feel free to ask! They would love to help anyone out as much as possible.
