Getting Started

Getting started is easy!

If you would like to come in and watch one of our training sessions, contact us.  Otherwise, here are three quick steps to begin working out with us:

step 1

Beginners’ Introductory Session
Option 1: Attend one of our Beginners’ Introductory sessions.  Held every Saturday at 11am, this is your best opportunity to see what CrossFit Zone is all about.  No prior exercise experience is necessary.  Please contact us to let us know you are coming! There is a $10.00 (GST included) fee payable at the beginning of the session. This fee can be applied to your first month’s membership.

Option 2: If you have any trouble making a Saturday workout (schedule conflict, etc.) or would like to start with a one on one session instead, just give us a call or fill out the form below and we will be happy to set up a 60 minute  intro session to get you started.  There is a $10.00 (GST included) fee payable at the beginning of the session, and this fee can be applied to your first month’s membership.

If you would like more information about the introductory session, or would like to arrange a time for an intro session please fill out the form below:

step 2

Foundations Seminar Register for the Foundations Seminar: This is a three-hour small-group session with one of our fully certified coaches.  This seminar will deliver a comprehensive understanding of the CrossFit program and can be seen as CrossFit 101.  We offer seamless integration into a group class where the concentration becomes more on refinement of technique and development of athletic capacities. These seminars are offered once a month, and if you would like to register, or are interested in more information, please fill out the form below:

This is your introduction to CrossFit’s foundational movements:

  • Squat, front squat, back squat and overhead squat
  • Press, push press, push jerk
  • Deadlift, sumo deadlift high-pull, medicine ball clean

While there are many other exercises used in our programming, these elements help establish the four basic human movements: pressing, pulling, opening/extending the hip and closing/flexing the hip. You will be introduced to CrossFit’s central tenet of constantly varied, functional movements, performed at a high intensity.  This includes:

  • Defining functional movement
  • Discovering how to maximize work capacity with intensity

step 3

Membership After successful completion of the Foundations seminar, you can register for as many “Level 1/All Level” classes throughout the week as you would like.  Check out the schedule here. Your investment goes a long way at CrossFit Zone.  All classes are approximately one hour long and consist of a proper warm-up and movement preparation, skill development and practice, and finally, the workout itself.

  • We place the highest emphasis on proper, efficient movement and mechanics, all to ensure your confidence, safety and results.
  • In every workout, you will be challenged with something new and different.
  • Each workout includes functional and athletic movement, body weight and weightlifting exercises, and metabolic conditioning.

If you are just getting yourself back into shape or think that these workouts look difficult, don’t worry!  All of our workouts are infinitely scalable and adaptable to accommodate any individual wishing to improve their health and fitness.  We provide scaled versions of every workout by making adjustments to exercises, weights, repetitions and distance, so that everyone can participate! If you have any questions, we would be happy to talk to you via email or phone—or just stop by and chat with us when you can.  Otherwise, what are you waiting for? Get started by coming to a Beginners’ Intro Workout or by registering for the Foundations seminar using the form below:

NOTE: For those new to CrossFit experience, we provide 2 options. First, we hold a Foundations Seminar where we will work as a group and learn the Fundamental CrossFit exercises.  If scheduling is a concern or private, one on one personal training is preferred, we offer an Introductory Program (minimum 3 one-on-one sessions).  Both of these paths allow participants to learn the basic exercises and movements of the CrossFit system.  Once you have completed the seminar/one-on-one sessions and your coach feels you are ready, you will be asked to demonstrate competency in the fundamental movements and join in our regular classes.
